The climate is influenced by fog near the coast with seasonal temperatures ranging from 40 to 60 F, with the interior areas of the watershed ranging from below freezing to over 90 F seasonally. Precipitation in the Gualala River Watershed is highly seasonal, most precipitation occurring October through April. Average annual precipitation ranges from 33 inches at the lower elevations near the Pacific Ocean to 63 inches at the higher elevations in the southeastern upper watershed.
