Available Datasets

During 2006, 2007 and 2008 the Humboldt Bay Harbor District developed a list of existing datasets for Humboldt Bay and the Eel River Delta. Around the same time, PhotoScience conducted a similar effort that identified spatial datasets for Humboldt Bay. The results of these efforts have been compiled and are available for download here (0.98 MB pdf).

Humboldt Bay - Eel River Historic Atlas The Historic Atlas of the Humboldt Bay and the Eel River Delta contains a series of aerial photos and survey results between 1854 and 2005. The photo and survey data has been georectified (aligned) to allow for easy comparison between years. By viewing the datasets together, physical changes within Humboldt Bay and the Eel River Delta may be identified. The data can be viewed with the free ESRI ArcExplorer© software or other Geographic Information System software. If you are interested in obtaining the Atlas please contact:

  Project Purpose:

"...to improve the regional management of wetland resources within the Humboldt Bay and Eel River Delta area by developing a cooperative framework to formulate a regional wetlands strategy."

 Project Objectives:
  • Increase coordination amongst public agencies with wetland and watershed programs.
  • Expand public/private restoration partnerships.
  • Develop critical biological and physical data to guide resource management decisions
